Recaps, reports and change alerts

Get a written summary of your results, a shareable report, and a Slack alert when results shift sharply.

Besides the live numbers on the Insights page, Surbee gives you three ways to keep up with a survey without reading every response:

  • Your recap, a written summary on the Overview tab.
  • The PDF report, a document you can download and share.
  • Change alerts in Slack, when your results shift sharply from one week to the next.

Your recap

On the Overview tab, the card at the top of the right-hand column is your recap. Its title follows the date range, for example Your weekly recap for the last 7 days or Your monthly recap for the last 30. Surbee's AI writes it from your response data, and it refreshes when new responses arrive.

Click Read to open the full recap. It can include a summary, What stands out, and Fix first, which suggests up to three questions to improve. See Read the Overview for more.

The recap doesn't use credits.

The PDF report

When you need to share results with someone who doesn't use Surbee, export a report:

  1. Open the survey's Insights page.
  2. Set the date range you want the report to cover.
  3. Click Export, then PDF report.
  4. In the print dialog that opens, choose Save as PDF.

The report opens with your recap summary, themes, score drivers and group differences, then shows every question's results. See Export your results for the full contents.

Change alerts in Slack

If a survey is connected to Slack, Surbee checks it once a day and posts to your channel when something changes sharply. The message is headed Something changed in your survey and has an Open insights button.

Surbee compares the last 7 days with the four weeks before and alerts you when:

  • Cipher flags far more responses than usual. For example, "Cipher flagged 24% of responses this week, up from 6% over the four weeks before."
  • The average answer to a rating, scale, slider, number or NPS question rises or falls sharply. For example, "Answers to 'How satisfied are you?' fell to an average of 3.1 this week, from 4.2 over the four weeks before."

A change is only reported when it's large and very unlikely to be chance. Flagged responses are left out of the score comparison.

When alerts can appear

  • The survey needs at least 10 responses in the last 7 days and at least 20 in the four weeks before. A new or quiet survey won't get alerts yet.
  • Each alert is sent at most once a week, so the same change doesn't fill your channel every day.

Turn change alerts on or off

Change alerts go to the Slack channel connected to the survey, whether that connection is set to every response or only flagged ones. To get them, connect the survey to Slack. To stop them, pause or remove the survey's Slack connection. See Slack notifications.
