Custom domains are coming soon. This page describes how they will work once they are available.
A custom domain shows your survey at an address you own, such as
survey.yourcompany.com or yourcompany.com/feedback, instead of a Surbee
link. Custom domains are available on the Max and Enterprise plans. On
other plans the section shows a Max tag, and you can
upgrade to use it.
survey.yourcompany.com.survey.yourcompany.com/feedback. Leave it empty to show the survey at the
root of the domain. Paths can use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens.Surbee then lists the DNS records to add.
Add the records where you manage DNS for your domain, usually your domain registrar or DNS host. Each record has a Type, a Name, and a Value, with copy buttons so you can paste them exactly.
| Purpose | Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proves you own the domain | TXT | _surbee-verify. followed by your domain | The token Surbee shows you |
| Points the domain at your survey | CNAME | Your domain | The target Surbee shows you |
If you use a root domain (such as yourcompany.com with nothing in front), the
second record is an A record pointing at an IP address instead of a CNAME,
because root domains cannot use CNAME records. Surbee detects this and shows
the right type.
Sometimes a third record appears, labelled Extra check from our hosting provider. This happens when the domain was used with another hosting account before. Add it as shown.
Surbee checks your DNS every 20 seconds while the page is open, and you can click Check now at any time. Records that are in place show a tick and the word "done". The domain moves through these statuses:
Once a domain is connected, other surveys can use it too. Open another survey's Share tab, choose the domain under Your domain, give it a Path, and click Use this domain. Only one survey can sit at the root of a domain.
