Share a chat

Share a chat from your home page as a read-only link, update it with new messages, or stop sharing.

You can share any chat from your Surbee home page with a link. Anyone with the link can read the conversation, without signing in. They can't reply to it or change it.

Share a chat

  1. Open the chat on your home page. The Share button appears at the top of the page once the chat has started.
  2. Click Share. The Share chat window opens.
  3. Choose Public: "Anyone with the link can view it".
  4. Click Copy link and send it to whoever you like.

What people see

The shared page shows the chat's title, the date it was shared, and the messages between you and Surbee.

  • If a survey was built in the chat, the shared page shows the survey's title and number of questions. It doesn't link to the survey or your editor, so nobody can open or edit your survey from a shared chat.
  • Shared chats are hidden from search engines.
  • Very long chats show the most recent 200 messages.

When you share a chat, Surbee saves a copy of it as it is at that moment. Anything you send in the chat afterwards stays private. The Share chat window reminds you: "Messages sent after sharing stay private until you update the link."

To add your newer messages to the shared page:

  1. Click Share again.
  2. Click Update link.

The link stays the same, so anyone you've already sent it to will see the updated chat.

Stop sharing

  1. Click Share in the chat.
  2. Choose Private: "Only you can see this chat".

The link stops working straight away. If you share the chat again later, it gets a new link. The old link won't work again.

Deleting a chat also removes its shared link.
