How do I create a survey?

There are three ways to start a survey in Surbee: describe it to Surbee's AI, start from a blank page, or bring in a form you already have. All three open the same editor, so you can switch between asking the AI and editing by hand at any point.

Start from a prompt

1. Go to your home page.
2. In the box that says Ask or build a survey..., describe what you want to learn. Mention who will answer, what you want to find out and roughly how many questions you want.
3. Send the message. Surbee drafts the survey and shows it as a card in the chat.
4. From the card you can Preview the survey, choose Open editor to keep working on it, or Publish it straight away.

A specific prompt gets a better first draft. Compare these two:

• "A customer survey."
• "A 10-question survey for people who cancelled their subscription in the last month. I want to know why they left, what would bring them back, and how they rated support. Keep it under five minutes."

The second gives Surbee an audience, a goal and a length to work with.

Start from a blank survey

On your home page, under the chat box, click or start a blank survey. The editor opens with an empty form:

1. Click Untitled form and type your survey's title. Add a description underneath if you want one.
2. The block picker is already open on the empty page. Pick a question type, such as Choice, Text or Rating, to add your first question. Click More question types to see the rest.
3. Click into the question to type its wording and answer options.
4. To add the next question, select a question and click Insert below it.

Import an existing survey

If the survey already exists in Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, Typeform, Tally, Jotform, SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics, you can import it instead of rebuilding it. See Import a survey.

Keep building with the AI

Inside the editor, the chat panel on the left stays connected to your survey. Ask for changes in plain language, for example:

• "Add a question about how often they used the product."
• "Make question 4 optional."
• "If someone says they are under 18, end the survey."

By default Surbee asks before it changes your survey. You can switch this in the chat box. See The editor for how the two modes work.

Your work saves as you go

Changes in the editor are saved automatically, so there is no save button. When you are ready for people to answer, click Collect responses in the top right and publish. See Share your survey.
